Sitting & Crawling

We visited our favorite park today, Walter Hass, up in Diamond Heights. It is the BOMB! Now, it wasn't very long ago that I thought a park was a park. But now that we 'park' frequently (I'll omit exactly how much because it might be obsessive), I have found that every park is different & full of it's own culture. Who would have guessed that going to a park becomes something like going out to dinner. Where you eat, who you eat with & where it's located definitely predicts your experience!

Anyhow, our intention was to swing a bit today & then maybe sit in the sandbox for a short spell before we headed home for dinner. Skipping to the fun part... while Maggie was crawling around in the sandbox I noticed her arms were rotating & that she was actually crawling. For real crawling, none of this shooching like an inch worm kinda crawl. So we headed over to a grassy patch & not only was she crawling (a bit wobbly, but definitely mastering it quickly) she was sitting up on her own. Now that's huge too because up until now she had to be assisted or she would topple over.

Sitting AND crawling. Now that's a full day.

Latest & Greatest

I went on a girls weekend in Tahoe this past weekend (AMAZING - haven't laughed that hard for a long time!), and when I got home I felt like Maggie had grown an inch, learned a new sounds & was a month older. It's true what they say, it DOES happen so fast.

Her latest & greatest:
- We had to lower her crib to the lowest setting... it's just a matter of time before she stands up in her crib. For some reason that just feels like a big change.

- I had to go through all her clothing up until now & pack it away, and pull out the bigger (since she is so tall) stuff. Hard to believe but she has two storage totes full of clothes that no longer fit her, and she is just 8 months old. Can you tell her mother is in retail! I cannot believe how much she has grown. Seriously, she was 6 pounds & a munchkin only 8 months ago.

- She loves to have her back scratched before bedtime. After she devours her bottle we rock a bit. She buries her head into my shoulder & moans while I scratch her back. It sincerely doesn't get much better than that. It can go on for 20 minutes if I let it... ok, Ii did last nite - couldn't resist.

- She sat in the sand today for the first time. It was precious watching her move her hand through the sand for the first time & of course, constantly trying to taste it!

and the BIGGEST accomplishment.... (drum roll please)... she is sleeping 12 (yes, TWELVE) hours at nite. I couldn't be happier or more proud of our sweet little maggie!

Cheerios, The New Accessory

Maggie just started eatting Cheerios a few days ago, and is loving them. It is so entertaining to watch her try to grab them & attempt to get them in her mouth. I now totally understand why families with children have dogs... clean up duty!!! I am constantly picking those things up, or stepping on them.

The two of us got the giggles during dinner tonight. She made me laugh so hard, and the harder I laughed, she laughed too. It was one of those moments you wanted everyone to see cuz you just couldn't believe it. My little Maggie, giggling like I had never seen her. She had sweet potatoes & summer veggies smeared all over her face & Cheerios stuck to her sticky self.

And her newest thing... when i ask her what the cows says, she grunts! i have yet to get that on video.
