The Naughties...

It isn't always lollipops & ponies with Ms. Maggie, and while I like to blog about all the positive...I must admit, there are a few things I think dear Maggie should be reminded of when she is a bit older. And may I smile later in the memory of her intelligence of how she pushed the envelope.

Timeouts.
When Maggie is given a timeout, she will look at you & just start to pee while holding a big, fat grin. We quickly learned that giving her a timeout meant she would purposely have an accident so we moved the timeout to the bathroom. But then she started to splash & jump in it like a big puddle. And soon you would hear her playing in the sink & having a blast. We stopped doing timeouts.

Going To Bed.
Maggie has always fought going to bed. I think she just simply would rather be in the action than asleep. So when bedtime rolls around Maggie starts in on her manipulation - and damn she is good. She gets me every nite. 'I have to pee, I'm hungry, I wanna read another story, I need a hug, I wanna snuggle with you Mommy, I miss you so much, I have to poop...' The tough thing is that it always ends in tears and frustration with all of us. BIG sigh.

I am more the 'lets talk about it' where Joel is the strict enforcer. Lets just say she is going to bed these days a little more on time & without much of a push back...

Hangin With My Baby

Maggie refers to her baby brother as 'my baby.' She was a big help this morning with her 'baby'...

Why?

It happened - Maggie asked her first WHY question today!!!

Joel: Maggie, we're gonna go home & make cheese burgers.

Maggie: Cheese? on a burger? WHY?

Joel: Cuz it tastes good!

How cool is that? I swear, ever since her little brother has arrived, Maggie has suddenly blossomed into this older toddler self. I LOVE it!!! And now WHY...here come the open ended questions & those off the beaten path questions that kinda catch you off guard. I cannot wait for more. :)

Maggie Meets Her Little Brother

Maggie came to the hospital to meet her little brother Charlie for the first time, and I couldn't be more proud of her! She was a bit wide-eyed at first, but the minute we brought her into the nursery & told her to pick out her brother (the one with the gift - of course!)...she was smitten. All those practice runs with diaper changing finally put to the test. She was grinning from ear-to-ear as she left with a handful of hospital blankets, diapers & hats for all her baby dolls awaiting her at home.

And since we have been home, together as a family of FOUR - Maggie has been nothing but the best big sister! She is doing well with her role and pointing out all the new things to her brother. 'Charlie - look, look. An airplane!'

I think she just made her first best friend!!!!
