Milestones

My dear friend Charley sent me a sweet email reminding me of our accomplishments over the past year & followed it up with a picture of the three of us in the hospital right after Maggie was born. I about fell over when I saw it, seriously. It was a jaw dropping experience. Joel looks the same, glowing with excitement over Maggie. But wow, I am SO puffy (not sure I actually had a neck), and Maggie was SO tiny. I mean TINY!!!! I have never witnessed more change in both our family & all of us individually than I have over the past year. I am proud of all of us. We are stronger, happier & truly relishing every moment of it. And it is all because of our precious, ever smiling Maggie!

Lady Leu Faces Forward

Maggie woke up all out of sorts from her nap today. I now understand the FEELING of having a child wake up cranky. I mean, she was craaaaaannnnkY! In an effort to guide her into a happy place, I figured we needed a new activity. Since she is at that age, I turned her car seat forward & went for a drive. To say this was a little slice of heaven for Maggie is an understatement. She was wide eyed & truly amazed at her surroundings. The train went by a few times & she did her 'choo choo' wave. It was the first time she could actually see it while in the car. Those big dark brown eyes were everywhere on our afternoon drive.

Lets just say it turned her mood around!

I ALMOST stopped for an ice cream cone with her... maybe next time. I suppose you need reserves for the next cranky awakening.

Her First Steps

It's been brewing, those first few steps. One here, a few there. It certainly wasn't what I thought, that she would take her first steps & then just take off. She still favors crawling because it gets her 'there' faster. But, with every new day she is gaining balance & ground on two feet. I happen to catch her on video during her first time with more than 3 steps.

What still amazes me is that she is almost unphased by it. You clap & praise her, and it almost washes over her. Of course she loves the excitement, but I am not sure she understands that walking is a BIG BIG BIG thing! I mean, in less than one year she went from squishy, rolling, sitting, standing, cruising & now walking. That's HUGE!

enjoy the show!!!
