Two Words Together

We have been waiting & working on Maggie to string two words together...and it's such an amazing moment when it happens. Especially because it wasn't solicited, it just happened. And man-o-man, I couldn't be more proud!

'Please Mommy' - Maggie & I were cruising through the grocery store, and a typical trip includes breaking into all the treats to get her to (1) sit in the cart, and (2) give her a little distraction so I can think my way through the visit. We were rounding the corner through the last ailes, when she turned to me & said 'please mommy.' She wanted another stick of string cheese. And I melted with the words, with the sincere look on her face, and the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. You bet she got another stick of string cheese!!!!

'Daddie Help' - The following morning she turned to Joel & said 'Daddie Help.' And it was then that Mz. Maggie set her goals on starting sentences...it's just been exploding since.

Monkey, Part 2

Seriously, I don't know how this whole Monkey addiction can get any better! It's a blossoming friendship for sure. I caught Maggie changing his diaper today. She now puts him in her little stroller, tucks him in there (which includes the blanket over the face - have to work on that one!), and preaches to him in some rambling, scrambled Maggie talk.

But wait, it gets better. She begs to get in her crib now, gives 'Mono' (Monkey's new name) a bottle, rocks him to sleep, and then when changing his diaper scolds him a bit & waves her finger at him. Whoooooooa. Where did she learn that???! MMMMM. Perhaps a little role playing from when she gets her diaper changed!!

Monkey

You know that sinking panic you get when you leave your cell phone in a taxi, or you forgot to attend a super important meeting ... well, that's what we experienced with Monkey yesterday. It was nap time, and Monkey was NO WHERE to be found...and I kinda think it might have been my fault.

He was something gnarly from our travels & he was in need of a serious bath. I tried to get him in 'the tub' (aka. washing machine), but Maggie wasn't about to fall for it...so she hid him. Come nap time, Monkey was missing & Maggie was NOT going to nap without him. Nope. Not without Monkey! I all about tore the house upside down looking for him. No kidding, 30 minutes later I found him, happily laying in the drawer to my bedside table. One wided-eyed and smiling Monkey & one super proud Maggie napped very very soundly.

After nap time I called in for back up...

Visiting Nana & Papa

Maggie & I just escaped to Florida to visit Nana & Papa Crowell. We LOVED our super long naps, the peace of the humid air blowing in the palm trees, the incredibly quiet evenings, and...

our time in the pool, and sometimes around the pool.

playing at the beach.

piano lessons with Nana.

and I got a little time with my parents!
